Volunteer Opportunities

Join a dynamic group supporting and promoting the sport of Marathon canoe/kayak racing in Ontario. Volunteers will receive training and support. Opportunities include:

  • Share your ideas with us. Write stories for the newsletter
  • Add messages to OMCKRA social media sites
  • Edit and produce the newsletter
  • Report to the Ontario Ministry on participation counts and programs
  • Club support
  • Liaison with insurance provider
  • Develop/support communications strategies

Race Support/Sanctioning Committee member

  • Answer race organizers questions about policies on safety, boat specifications, insurance
  • Support/develop programs for coaches, paddlers, race organizers
  • Review applications and emergency action plans from organizers of races
  • Advise and support organizers of races
  • Identify and develop new race locations and organizers

Coaching Committee

  • Help develop measures of paddler skills and improvement tracking
  • Help track coach accreditation and professional development milestones

Member of the board of Directors as:

  • Membership secretary
  • Recording secretary
  • Member at large
  • Marathon Representative on the Canoe Kayak Ontario (CKO) board
  • Marathon Representative on the Marathon Canoe Racing Council (MCRC) of CanoeKayak Canada (CKC)
